History

The GRP Plasticorr Ltd. was founded in 1991 as a private company, by two Hungarian engineers, Vilmos Kajtár and József Maros, having an experience in the development and application of composite glass reinforced plastics in a research institute over a decade.

In the last thirteen years, as a result of our own research and development, we further developed our basic patent worked out on the corrosion protection coating of storage tanks invented by Vilmos Kajtár, one of the founders of our company. For the coating we developed the patented PLASTIMOL® product family, and apply in a wide circle in extending the lifetime of chemical and petrochemical storage tanks.

Today our activities are not limited on coatings made from composites. We entered the market with storage tanks manufactured using pure polymer based associated systems, as well as with self-supported chemical and petrochemical structural components. For the first time in East-Middle-Europe, we developed and built a tank roof from composite material, for vertical cylindrical tanks with 9-12 m diameter, capable of replacing steel roof structure, the mass of which is one third, while the lifetime is at least twice of the steel. In the R&D reconstruction program of high-pressure gas pipes, we worked out a repair procedure competitive at European level, by which the pipelines can be repaired without shutdown, and the strength of the repaired pipe is considerably higher than that of the original steel pipe.

As a result of the industrial application of the technical know-how, we received the Hungarian Quality House prize in 2003. From the original micro-venture with 5 employees and annual turnover of 5 million Hungarian Forints, today we have grown to a company employing more than 50 people together with the subcontractors, with an annual turnover of 500 million Forints, with our own research laboratory background as well as a wide range of user references.

Our procedure of upgrading single-walled tanks into double walled was given the Innovation Prize in 2003 by the Ministry of Environment Protection.
